ALBUQUERQUE TO HOST "2007 Western Team Challenge"
(Berwyn, PA) - Albuquerque, New Mexico has been selected to host the 2007 Western Team Challenge presented by Business 2.0, May 31 - June 2. The Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau will serve as the Official Host Sponsor of The Western Team Challenge. The event is the second United States event on the Intelligent Sport World Series, the world's leading series of interbusiness team building competitions. The Challenge expects to attract 200 senior level executives from 40 companies throughout the USA.
Corporate teams competing in the Western Team Challenge will be in Albuquerque for two days and nights of intense, fun competition using the trademarked Intelligent Sport formula - a unique combination of physical and mental agility in which the primary goal is to create great teams for business. The natural beauty and diverse terrain in and around Albuquerque will be the "playing field" for participants to accomplish a variety of strategic and intellectual challenges while navigating on mountain bikes, kayaks or trail running.
"The Western Team Challenge and the Intelligent Sport formula is a most inventive platform for businesses to increase teamwork, morale and production," said Richard Adler, General Manager of US Challenge LLC, the US licensee of Challenger World, Ltd. "The event enables colleagues and clients to realize their potential working together towards a common goal, while also providing a healthy dose of competition. We selected Albuquerque for our inaugural western event because of its enchanting surroundings, the high quality of its active lifestyle and the booming growth of the local business community. We're excited to be working with the ACVB and hope local businesses will participate in the Challenge and provide great competition for the visiting corporate teams!"
"We are thrilled that Albuquerque has been selected to host the 2007 US Corporate Challenge. This event provides a tremendous opportunity to showcase Albuquerque's scenic beauty and array of fantastic outdoor recreation offerings to potential leisure visitors and the corporate participants from around the country," said Dale Lockett, Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau President/CEO.
In addition to preparing for the mental and physical challenges, teams are also encouraged to raise funds for the event's official charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude is the world's premier pediatric cancer research center. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 United States and more than 70 countries. Since opening in 1962, its research findings have been freely shared with medical communities worldwide. Families at St. Jude never pay for medical treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. Over the past two years, participating companies in Intelligent Sport events in the USA have raised more than $850,000 for St. Jude.
