NOMINATE OUTSTANDING LEADERS IN THE SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY "SBA Seeks Nominations for 2008 Small Business Week Awards ALBUQUERQUE, NM - - November 14, 2007 - - The U. S. Small Business Administration is seeking nominations for the "2008 National Small Business Week Awards." Nominations are being accepted for the Small Business Person of the Year, Small Business Awards, Small Business Champions of the Year, Federal Procurement Awards, and Special Category Awards.
The New Mexico SBA District Officemust receive nomination packets no later than November 23, 2007. Any individual or organization dedicated to the support of the small business community in the United States, including, but not limited to, trade and professional associations and business organizations, may submit nominations for the Small Business Week Awards.
SBA Award Categories: Small Business Person of the Year; Small Business Exporter of the Year; SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year; Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Business of the Year; Phoenix Awards (for disaster recovery);
Small Business Champions (individuals or organizations dedicated to supporting small businesses); these include: Financial Services
Champion of the Year; Home-Based Business Champion of the
Year; Minority Small Business Champion of the Year; Small Business Journalist of the Year; Veteran Small Business Champion of the Year; Women in Business Champion of the Year) Entrepreneurial Success Award (nominee for this award must own & operate a business that initially was definedas "small" under the applicable SBA size standards, developed into a large business & must have received SBA assistance); Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year; Small Business Subcontractor of the Year; Frances Perkins Vanguard Awards (for use of women-owned businesses in government contracting); Dwight D. Eisenhower Awards for Excellence (for large prime contractors who use small businesses as suppliers and contractors); Gold Star Awards (for federal government contracting); Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Service Excellence and Innovation Center Award
